What is WebDU?

WebDU is the premier Antipodean Web Technology Conference, taking place 21-22 May 2009 in Sydney, Australia. This is the seventh year the conference will be held.

WebDU encompasses a large spectrum of web technologies and will bring you the best of web technologies, ideas, and what the future holds, not to mention a bevvy of top-class international and Australian speakers.

The conference offers the opportunity to get hands-on technical training, gain new skills, hear breaking news from the web industry, network with peers and industry leaders, and ultimately become more successful developing and delivering web applications. Nowhere else in ANZ can this audience find the volume and quality of information under one roof at webDU.

When: May 21st - 22nd
Where: StarCity Convention Centre in Sydney, Australia
More Info: The video should explain it all, but if it doesn’t, visit their website.

The Video

The Competition

We’re giving away two tickets to this year’s WebDU conference. The competition is pretty simple; All I want is to know what speaker you’re most excited to see and why you think you should win. Just post the following in the comments below: Your author name, the name of the speaker you’re most excited to see, and up to 25 words explaining why you want and deserve the tickets. Please also specify whether you can actually make it or not.

Example:
YourUserName
Mike Jones
I think you should pick me because I’m Australiaphobic and I need to conquer my fears. I also want to learn stuff.
Yes, I will actually be able to go.

Prizes

First Prize - The best answer (according to me) will win the competition badge and a WebDU ticket.
Second Prize - The second-best answer won’t get a badge, but will win the other WebDU ticket.

The Deadline

May 13th at 10pm US Mountain time.

Sorry the deadline is short, but we wanted to give the winners ample time to work out travel and hotel accommodations.

Blog post comments need to be approved before they show up below. Your comment just needs to have been submitted, not necessarily approved to be eligible.

May I Enter More Than Once?

No, please only post once.

Now the technical stuff

  • FlashDen staff will choose the winners and our decision is final.
  • Entry is open to all who are NOT Envato employees.
  • The prize covers the ticket only and does not include travel expenses, accommodation etc.
  • Entries close May 13th at 10pm US Mountain time.

As you probably already know, FlashDen is just started accepting Flex files into the library. Now we’re going to run a competition giving a total of $850 to authors who upload Flex files!

The competition

Within the Flex category we have 13 subcategories. We’re going to give $50 to the author of the first file accepted in each subcategory.

In addition to the 13 $50 prizes we’re also going to give away $200 for the file we (LanceSnider and the reviewers) think is the best. Read More …

By popular demand we’ve decided to open up a store to sell FlashDen shirts, mugs, mouse pads, and a bunch of other fun stuff. Check it out here: zazzle.com/flashden.

Where Will All the Proceeds Go?

100% of FlashDen’s proceeds from the store will go to the Australlian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal. For those of you who don’t know, due to a record-breaking heatwave, Victoria Australia has recently been plagued with hundreds of fires. Victoria is no stranger to deadly fires, but this year has been the most devastating in Australia’s history. Thousands have lost their homes and over 200 have been reported dead so far. The proceeds from the store will help, but if you’d like to do more click here for more information. Click here for an amazing survival story. Read More …
